What Is It?
Accessible PDF Policy (APP) from Accessibil-IT is the only solution of its kind to offer real-time PDF accessibility monitoring as your organization’s content authors upload their documents to your internet, intranet or SharePoint websites. (APP) automates the notification of authors and web administrators of non-compliance, and inaccessible PDF files can be sent to Accessibil-IT to have them made accessible and compliant.
Solution
Accessibil-IT has developed a solution that integrates a scanning engine between your Content Management System (CMS) and the internet. The (APP) scanning engine verifies the accessibility of all PDF content being uploaded by all authorized publishers.
By analyzing the PDF for accessibility, (APP) is able to provide three options for organizations
1) Check and Choice
The PDF is assessed and alerts the author and/or web administrator that the PDF is not accessible and they should reconsider posting the inaccessible PDF. This also gives the author an option to send the PDF to Accessibil-IT for remediation.
2) Scan and Send
The PDF is assessed as it is being published through the CMS and automatically sends the PDF to Accessibil-IT with a notification to the publisher advising them their PDF was inaccessible and has been sent to Accessibil-IT to be remediated.
3) Send and Service
As all PDF documents are uploaded to your website, they are sent automatically to Accessibil-IT for remediation, and upon completion are returned into the CMS stream for public availability.
Process
Accessibil-IT uses a customized scanning tool to monitor all upload activity on your organization’s internal or external website. (APP) is designed to be implemented to fit your needs as an organization trying to create an inclusive and accessible publishing environment. Once the (APP) framework is installed, further PDF remediation services from Accessibil-IT can be easily added from “Check and Choice” to “Scan and Send” or “Send and Service”.
Upon identifying a PDF document, it is analyzed for 6 points of accessibility and if the document is non-compliant it is securely sent over a 256-bit connection to the Accessibil-IT document servers and remediated to our industry leading standards. Upon remediation, the document is reloaded securely back into your website for worry-free access by all users.
