Accessibil-IT sponsors second annual Blind Sailing regatta

August 31, 2017

Accessibil-IT, the global leader in PDF accessibility, was proud to again be the presenting sponsor of the second annual Canadian Invitational Blind Sailing Regatta in Oakville, Ontario.

This year, the regatta added a new team from Naples, Florida which helped to further heat up the competition. With the crews exhausted from the first day of training on Friday, the racers muscled through an incredible 9 races over two days of competition.

Last year’s crew from the Accessibil-IT boat promoted Tammy Adams to be the skipper this year and in her first regatta at the helm she was able to win an astonishing 4 races. Accessibil-IT was on hand to cheer on Tammy, the crew and other participants – and celebrate in everyone’s success!

In a very close battle, the California based team of Ben Smith, Phillip Kum, George Lythcott and Steve Bayles were able to defend their title from last year, to become two-time champions of the Canadian Invitational Blind Sailing Regatta. There was also a two-way tie for second between the boats helmed by Tammy Adams and Chris Jonas.

We’re looking forward to another amazing event next year with two new boats already planning to join the races.

We’re very grateful for the incredible effort from the National One Design Sailing Academy, and the other sponsors; Fastoche, Access Abilities, CMS Web Solutions, and Yolanda’s Sputino Casa.
